Who it fits

A practical AP for students who want to make and decide.

The course is designed for students interested in entrepreneurship, business, finance and career-connected learning. The exam rewards decisions supported by evidence: a recommendation without criteria, numbers or context is incomplete.

  1. Build the project as evidence.Keep records of customer assumptions, tests, changes and viability risks throughout the year.
  2. Read financial statements as stories.Ask what the numbers reveal about constraints, tradeoffs and goals.
  3. Practice criteria before conclusions.Define what a good decision must accomplish, then compare options against it.
Preparation by artifact

What to produce during the course.

Decision log

Record hypotheses and revisions

For each product choice, preserve the original assumption, evidence gathered, decision and result.

Finance cases

Translate goals into constraints

Practice budgets, borrowing, saving and risk as decisions about a fictional household, not isolated calculations.

Recommendation memos

Compare two viable options

Use explicit financial and nonfinancial criteria, then cite scenario evidence for the final choice.

Course skill map

The new exam connects business and household decisions.

Students need quantitative fluency, but the scored work centers on how evidence supports a practical choice.

Entrepreneurship

Define a customer problem, propose a value proposition and test the assumptions that make the idea viable. The Business Canvas Project should preserve how evidence changed the idea over time.

Business finance

Read revenue, cost, cash and funding information as constraints on a decision. Calculations matter because they clarify whether a plan can work, not because the exam rewards arithmetic in isolation.

Management

Evaluate people, operations and resources together. A recommendation should acknowledge implementation risk and explain how a proposed action moves the organization toward its stated goal.

Marketing

Connect a target customer, evidence about demand and a channel or message. Avoid assuming that more promotion fixes a product, pricing or customer-fit problem revealed by the scenario.

Personal finance

Interpret a household's income, expenses, obligations, savings and goals. The strongest response weighs tradeoffs and gives a path that is realistic for the fictional person's constraints.

Decision quality

Establish criteria before choosing between the two options in the final FRQ. Then cite financial and nonfinancial evidence, explain the tradeoff and support one recommendation without pretending the alternative has no benefit.
