Sound familiar?

Studying hard, but the score won’t move?

Most prep leaves you guessing. Here’s where it usually goes wrong — and what we do instead.

You redo practice tests — and miss the same things.

You’ve worked the same set two or three times, but on test day the same questions still trip you up. Drilling more doesn’t help if you never find out why you keep missing them. We collect every wrong answer, sort it by topic, and bring it back until it’s truly fixed — so old mistakes stop following you into the exam.

You finish a practice test and get… a number.

A score tells you how it went, not what to fix — so you re-study what you already know and run out of time on what you don’t. We break every result down by skill, surface your weakest areas, and hand you the single thing to drill next. No more guessing what to work on.

You cram the night before — and blank on test day.

Formulas and rules crammed at 11pm rarely survive the pressure of the real exam. We bring the facts you keep forgetting back on a spaced schedule — right before you’d lose them — so they’re locked in for test day, not just for tonight.

You run out of time on the real thing.

You can solve every question — until the clock is running and the section is only half done. Full-length, properly-timed mocks train your pacing and your nerves, so the real test feels like a rerun and the clock stops being the enemy.

Why PrepScore

The prep that tells you what to do next.

Most prep hands you a score and stops. PrepScore turns every answer into a clear next step — toward the score you actually need.

Score analysis iconReal analysis, not just a score
Most prep hands you a number and leaves you to figure out the rest. We show your accuracy area by area, plus a score estimate that tracks toward the goal you set — so you always know exactly where you stand and how far you still have to go, not one number out of context.
Answer explanation iconAn explanation on every question
Every question comes with a full explanation: why the right answer is right, and why each tempting wrong one isn’t. You learn the idea the question is actually testing — not just whether you got it — so the next one like it doesn’t catch you out.
Target score iconBuilt around your target
There’s no pass line. You set the score you’re aiming for, and your plan, your practice and your estimate all revolve around closing that gap by your test date — the number that actually gets you into your colleges.
Question type practice iconPractice the real question types
You drill the exact formats you’ll face on the real exam — multiple choice, free-response, and data and diagram questions — scored the way the real test scores them. No watered-down imitations that leave you surprised on the day.
Built for each test

Three tests, three different games.

The SAT, ACT and AP aren’t the same exam — so the prep isn’t either. Here’s the edge that matters most on each.

SAT mocks that adapt like the real test.

The Digital SAT gets harder or easier depending on how you’re doing. Our full-length mocks use that same routing — so the real thing feels like something you’ve already done, not a surprise.

AP free-response, actually scored.

Multiple choice you can practice anywhere. The free-response — about half your AP score — is the part you can’t check on your own. Write a full answer and get it scored on the official AP rubric in seconds, point by point: exactly where you’d gain marks and where you’d lose them.

It’s like having a reader go through your work — every time you practice, not just when a teacher has time.

Plus the real figure & data questions — graphs, diagrams and experiments — not just text.

ACT mocks at real pace — Science included.

The ACT is fast and linear, with a Science section the SAT doesn’t have. Practice by section and sit full-length linear mocks, so the pace — and those science passages — hold no surprises on test day.

SAT icon

SAT

Scored 400–1600. Most four-year colleges see scores in the 1000–1300 range; 1350+ is competitive at selective schools. It’s digital and adaptive, about 2 hours 14 minutes.

ACT icon

ACT

Scored 1–36 — the average of English, Math and Reading. Around 20 is the national average; 30+ is competitive. It’s fast and linear, with an optional Science section.

AP icon

AP

Each AP exam is scored 1–5. Many colleges grant credit for qualifying scores, so strong AP results can save tuition and time. PrepScore keeps AP study organized by subject and unit.

How it works

From "where am I?" to your target score.

  1. 1

    Set a target

Tell us your test date and the score your colleges want. We work backward from there to build a plan around the gap, so every session moves the number that actually matters for getting in.

  2. 2

    Practice the weak spots

Work the real domains across every section, with a full explanation on every answer. As you go, your weak areas surface on their own — so your study time always lands where it’ll lift your score the most.

  3. 3

    Sit a full adaptive mock

Take timed, full-length mocks that mirror the real exam — including the digital SAT’s harder/easier module routing. Afterward you get a full breakdown of exactly where you lost points, section by section.

  4. 4

    Watch the estimate climb

Your practice estimate moves as a range toward your target and updates as you improve — so you can see how close you are, and know the moment you’re actually ready to walk in.

Made for students like you.

Wherever you’re starting from, the plan adjusts to you.

You want a real score picture — not just another practice number. You’d rather know exactly where you stand, area by area, and what’s actually holding your score back.

You’re aiming for competitive, score-requiring colleges — the kind where every point counts and a strong, well-targeted score really moves your odds.

You’re re-taking to raise a score or chase a superscore, and you can’t afford to repeat the same study that plateaued last time — you need to know exactly what to fix.

You’re fitting prep around school, activities and everything else — so you need something that tells you what to do in the time you’ve actually got.

FAQ

College-test prep, answered

Which tests does PrepScore cover?
All three of the big college-admissions tests: the digital SAT, the ACT, and AP. Each one gets its own full toolkit — topic-by-topic practice with an explanation on every question, full-length mocks that mirror the real format, a mistake bank that resurfaces what you got wrong, and a dashboard that tracks where you stand. Everything works on both your computer and your phone and stays in sync, so you can sit a full mock at your desk and review on the bus.
Is it really one subscription for all three tests?
Yes. One PrepScore College subscription unlocks the SAT, the ACT and AP — there is no separate plan to buy per test. That matters because most students don't sit just one exam: you might take both the SAT and the ACT to see which scores higher, then sit two or three AP exams in May. Instead of paying for each separately, your whole college-testing season is covered under a single plan.
Should I take the SAT or the ACT?
Almost every U.S. college accepts either and has no preference between them, so it comes down to which one suits you. The SAT is digital and adaptive, a little shorter, and gives you more time per question. The ACT is faster-paced and more straightforward, with an optional science section that rewards quick data reading. The honest way to decide is to try a timed practice set of each — both are included — and go with the test where your score, and your nerves, come out better.
What makes PrepScore different from free apps and big-name courses?
Free apps hand you a question and a right-or-wrong; expensive courses hand you hours of video. PrepScore is built around what actually moves a score: every question comes with a full explanation of why the right answer works and why each tempting wrong one doesn't, your weak areas surface on their own, and you're always shown the one thing to drill next. You also get the formats other tools skip — AP free-response scored on the official rubric, plus real charts, diagrams and data questions — for a small monthly price instead of a tutor's hourly rate.
Can I practice AP free-response — and how is it scored?
Yes, and it's one of the biggest reasons students choose PrepScore. You write out a complete free-response answer, then it's scored against the official AP rubric — point by point, the way a real exam reader would mark it — with feedback on exactly which points you earned and which you missed. Free-response is the hardest half of the AP exam to practice alone, because a textbook can't tell you whether your answer would actually earn the points. AP practice also includes the figure, graph and data questions you'll meet on the real test, not just plain multiple choice.
Is PrepScore free to try, and when should I start?
You can start for free: every day you get practice questions with a full explanation on each, no credit card, so you can see exactly how it works before paying. A subscription removes the daily limits and unlocks full-length mocks and the complete question bank. On timing, most students give themselves about two to three months — pick your test date, set the score your colleges want, and PrepScore plans backward from there, with a practice estimate that climbs toward your target so you know when you're ready.
